|Description:||Coastal Pacific Food Distributors (CPFD) is seeking a Warehouse Traffic Dispatcher with Port of Oakland dispatch experience.|
This position will provide administrative support to our Traffic team and a communication channel for our Professional Drivers. Communicate load information to the driver and coordinate a variety of logistical issues. The effective daily management (i.e., profitability and utilization) of drivers and their loads is the primary focus. Discretionary judgment is applied when presenting customer and driver solutions and communicating concerns to management.
Support and serve the needs of any Driver as required. Responsible for coordinating and monitoring Driver's progress and directing the allocation of loads as operational needs demand. Monitor safety issues, hours of service, asset utilization, compliance, home time, etc. and assist the Driver in meeting customer expectations and productivity standards. Must be closely involved with customer service, POD's, OS&D's, scheduling and load status updates. Other tasks assigned may include assisting planners in load procurement, order entry and special projects.
|Duties:||Dispatching loads to Drivers via phone and/or computerized systems. |
Order entry of loads including all necessary information required for billing and effective dispatch.
Recording daily Driver check calls (locations, hours of service, and odometer).
Monitor and address Driver performance in order to maintain productivity and promote effective utilization.
Direct and monitor execution of fuel plans, in-network compliance and Driver's MPG.
Coordinate Driver's home time needs (e.g. vacations, personal time, etc.) with Personnel Dept.
Coordinate with the Maintenance Dept. to ensure Drivers receive required equipment services, while maintaining customer scheduled deliveries.
Perform audits of service issues to ensure company performance goals are achieved.
Work with Director of Traffic to address customer and/or Driver service issues.
Responsible for communicating Driver safety & compliance issues to all relevant parties in the appropriate format (i.e., memos, voice mail, e-mail, etc.)
Compile, compose and deliver reports using Office tools such as word processors, spreadsheets, databases and monitoring/managing various projects as requested.
Other duties as may be necessary to provide superior service to our customers and support to our drivers.
|Qualifications:||Experience: 2 or more years in a trucking operations service/support role.|
Education: High School Diploma required, an Associate Degree preferred.
Computer Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office applications with an emphasis on utilizing Excel functions and tools. Ability to work in various Microsoft Windows environments and effectively use the Internet for research purposes.
Certificates & Licenses: None required.
Knowledge Base: Ability to understand guidelines pertainent to DOT/FMCSA rules & regulations.
